New year, new interests. I have decided that this year I will get into film photography! I have acquired a few film cameras (Christmas presents to myself!), bought used books on film photography and enrolled in darkroom classes this month.
I will change my photo project from weekly to monthly since I have yet to figure out my film workflow. At this point, it will be impractical to post a weekly film photograph given my budget and schedule.
Here's what I would like to do: 1 film roll (120 or 35) each month minimum, 1 theme per roll, 1 story set (diptychs, triptychs, daily photos on 35 or best of 9 on 120 film, etc.)
I will post at the beginning of the month what I have shot the previous month. I also want to learn to couple storytelling with my photographs. I believe in the power of story and how our lives are built around it.
I think this will push my creativity and help me find a personal style. Just starting out with learning how to meter (without a built-in meter) and the simple act of loading and unloading film, I have already met some challenges. I have a feeling this project will teach me a lot about patience and uncertainty (and acceptance). But more than the end result, it is the process that I value the most. I know this will be a wonderful journey!
